Problem: The Vendor’s Applicant Scoring Model (the “Scoring Model”) automatically matches job applicants’ applications to job descriptions provided by customers. The Vendor had come under scrutiny by regulators for claims made about the product’s fairness. The Vendor must also comply with NYC Local Law 144.

Armilla AI’s Solution:

  • Created an independent inference method using the candidate’s first name and surname to append gender and ethnicity to the dataset
  • Performed a bias audit, comparing favorable outcomes across demographics in line with methodology in New York Local Law 144

Outcome: Armilla’s assessment convinced regulators that the platform was compliant with local laws and regulations. This independent validation also helped the platform voluntarily align with regulations such as NYC Local Law 144 and effectively respond to customer inquiries regarding bias and compliance.

“Armilla AI provided an independent bias assessment of our candidate sourcing and scoring tools, helping us voluntarily align with regulations such as NYC Local Law 144 and respond to questions from customers.”
